Three problems, and what I did about them
Listed by the problem rather than the industry, because the problems repeat and the industries don't. A paper process that's outgrown itself looks much the same in a media department as it does in a workshop.
A paper booking process, gone
Several hundred pieces of equipment lent across three sites on a paper diary, a shared inbox and a laminated sheet. Replaced with one system the technicians maintain themselves, running at no ongoing cost.
Everything was in a different file
A department planning its courses across dozens of documents in scattered locations. Now one tool used daily by twenty-plus staff, producing the paperwork they're required to submit already in the right format.
Word of mouth, and nowhere to send it
An independent travel agent whose referrals had nowhere to land. A site built from the brand she already had, with an enquiry form that gathers everything needed to reply with a proposal instead of more questions.
